Voilet Craft Elephant Quilt Update

Today was another day of sewing sections together. I finished the right ear and started on the legs. I have about 30 more pieces to paper piece so I am over half way done.

After going to lunch with an old friend and catching up on life because we haven’t seen each other since September so you know we had a lot to talk about.

I came home and sat down to sew more and decided to see how many hours I have put into this project so far.

Now I have been logging my minutes since I started the project, even if it was just 5 or 10 minutes until my daughter needed something.

To my surprise I have 25 hours into this project. It sure didn’t look like I did by the way I was keeping track of my time.

I had asked a friend who had made 3 of the elephant quilts about how long did she think it took her to make it. Mind you she is a super fast sewer and her answer was 25 to 45 hours and I thought she was kind of crazy.

Well I guess she was right as I still have a ways to go. My goal was to be done by this weekend or should I say Saturday because I have classes on Sunday and Monday to teach. So it looks like tomorrow will be a busy day for me. As I am writing this it dawns on me that tomorrow is Saturday. Doesn’t look like I will make my goal, or maybe I will if I drink enough coffee.

Coffee, now that’s a story. I only started drinking coffee when I really got serious about making quilts, great another bad habit brought on by quilting, lol. I guess it could be worse, I could have gotten hooked on buying sewing machines, oh crap, I do that too.

Wish me luck and I will keep you posted!

Fellow quilters know how many hours go into a project. Great job!
